its REAL HARD to escape a bloodhound or basset

That's mainly because, like all dogs, they're too thick to understand the CiA hit and medic rules.

Now cats, on the other hand, they'd understand the rules perfectly. They'd just cheat.

The trouble with using cats is all the germans will just end up sitting in the warmest spot right next to the camp fire all day.

The trouble with dogs is wouldn't you need a pair of undies or something off the chap you're tracking to give them the scent?

though kermits right, alsatians would look best for the part. dogs would put a real fear in to the escape team, ive been tracked by hounds, and the baying and barking really gets the adrnaline going

In terms of fear factor I'd have to agree Alsatians would be better- certainly excellent for guard duty.

Anyway I think for adding to the atmosphere having dogs would be great but needless to say a little impractial. Maybe we will just have to play some recorded barking to scare the allies instead.

Let's use baying wolves as well...and lions...and cackling witches.

My mate's a RAF Plod dog handler, He's a nutter. If he weren't currently in Iraq, knowing him, i could probably get him to para-drop attack dogs all over whatever site you chose.

Regarding goggles on animals - Taffy doesn’t seem to have a problem with them sheep I head they are a special welsh bullet proof breed (heard tell their fleeces where used under the red tunics at Rork's Drift  ) so the Germans could always use attack and sniffer sheep.

If the white is too out of step with the feldgrau you could always have a BLACK SHEEP

If you had tracker dogs, surely the Allies would have no chance at all ? (And they'd need to be wearing goggles!)

Most* dogs should be quite simple to fool. Just be ready to surrender something soft/chewy/squeaky/tennis ball shaped/meaty to them and they'll be amused for hours!

* does not include those trained to sniff things out or guard something

To be honest, cool though the idea is (being hunted down by a slavering dog would have to be a bigger adrenaline rush than being hunted down by an airsofter with a toy gun), I can't see any way to make it risk-free, no matter how friendly the dog. Apart from anything else you make your escape by 'killing' your pursuer. You can't shoot at a dog and anyway he won't take the hits!
As an evader, hearing a sound recording of baying dogs getting closer and closer might be just as effective and a bit more practical!

Agreed Dave... it'd perfectly fine in a non-airsoft game where nobody was armed... but won't work in airsoft.

We could just organise the game on the same day as the local hunt and smear the evaders in fox urine......

Heh, when I was a HuntSab we used Jeyes fluid - I can't remember whether it was to destroy a fox scent trail or tempt the dogs onto something more interesting. I think it was the former, so I have just given away the way to foil the pursuing dogs!

BTW, if we can't find fox urine I'm sure Guy will improvise...

God........ I go away for two weeks and this turns into Crufts

OK NO FECKING DOGS UNLESS THEY ARE ABLE TO FILL OUT AN INSURANCE DISCLAIMER AND SIGN IT UNAIDED

For obvious reasons to dogs and people it's a no no .

Anyway looks like we know what CIA Game No 2 next year is going to be then ......
